Camp Namaste! An east Indian cultural day-camp hosted by the Parents of Indian Children (PIC), the India Association of Minnesota (IAM) and Children's Home Society (CHS). Parents of Indian Children (PIC) is a 17 year old voluntary organization of parents who have joined together to share the joys of being touched by Indian adoption. We are a non-profit group formed to build a strong community for our Asian Indian children. PIC’S ANNUAL CULTURE "CAMP NAMASTE" provides Indian cultural activities, arts and crafts, and promotes Indian-American identities. Participants gain a fuller appreciation of India's vast and beautiful culture while building a community of people with similar life experiences. The heritage camp allows children to interact with other Indian children, young adults and adults from the Indian community to foster friendships and connections among participants of all ages. There are parent education workshops about adoption, cultural identity, and other social and educational issues that can affect our children. PIC MEMBERSHIP

Namaste [namas'teː] in Nepali and Hindi (from internal sandhi between namaḥ and te) is a South Asian greeting, which is used when both Hello and Goodbye would be used in English. It is commonly accompanied by a slight bow made with the hands pressed together, palms touching, in front of the chest. The Spirit in me meets the same Spirit in you. Camp Namaste welcomes everyone!

Camp Namaste takes place August 14-16, 2008 in Saint Paul, MN. This years camp is a collaboration between Programs for Indian Children (PIC) Children's Home Society of Minnesota (CHSM) and the Indian Association of Minnesota (IAM) The camp is for preschool through high school age children and youth. Young people (teens) may apply to serve as interns and pre-interns.
